- Two Forms, One Robot BAOBAO switches between a four-legged form for moving around the home and an upright form for face-to-face interaction.
- Follows You Room to Room In quadruped form it walks beside its user and follows automatically from the living room to the bedroom.
- Sits at the Table Standing upright, it sits at a table at a comfortable distance for conversation, homework or a yoga session.
- Expressive Head Display A screen in the head shows facial expressions and animations as visual feedback to the people around it.
- Gesture and Voice Interaction Gesture recognition engineered to limit sensor interference works alongside the cameras, sensors and speakers built into its compact body.
- Industrial Foundations It uses the same in-house joints, design-simulation software and learned motion models as MirrorMe's industrial and research quadrupeds.
Description
The BAOBAO is MirrorMe Technology's home companion robot, and it changes shape to suit the moment. As a quadruped, with a wheel at the foot of each of its four legs, it moves beside you and follows you from the living room to the bedroom. Standing upright, it sits at the table to talk, keep a child company over homework or join a yoga session. MirrorMe calls it a dual-form robot and presented it as its flagship consumer product for 2025.
That gives it a different role from the rest of the MirrorMe range. The Black Panther X is an open quadruped that developers assemble, code and modify, and the Apollo is an industrial quadruped; BAOBAO is a finished household product meant to fit into daily life rather than to be rebuilt. Its premise is that a home robot should keep an agile, mobile presence while you are moving and a calm, face-to-face one while you are still.
Interaction is built into one compact body. A display in the head shows facial expressions and animations, gesture recognition is engineered to limit sensor interference so hand signals register reliably, and integrated cameras, sensors and speakers handle perception and voice. Underneath sit the same foundations as MirrorMe's industrial robots — in-house integrated joints, the company's own differentiable simulation software for design optimisation, and motion models trained by imitation and reinforcement learning on human and animal movement data.
BAOBAO suits families who want a robot that moves with them rather than a stationary smart speaker, early adopters of home robotics, retailers and showrooms presenting home devices, and education and research groups studying human-robot interaction. MirrorMe has not released weight, dimensions, speed or battery runtime for BAOBAO; current specifications are confirmed in writing with the quotation.
